Why Accounting Is Vital For Entrepreneurs
When I officially launched Joyce Tsang Content Marketing in 2022, I was stepping into a whole new world—running my own business, setting up client contracts, and managing internal admin. As someone who’s admittedly terrible at math, I knew I needed more than just a professional front for clients. I needed a reliable partner to help me manage my finances properly.
That’s when I started researching service providers for incorporation, accounting, and tax filing—and landed on Sleek.
Why I Chose Sleek First

I found Sleek through blog research and chose them because they were based in Hong Kong. That gave me confidence they’d understand local laws and requirements, and if anything went wrong, I could reach them in my time zone—or worst case, track them down.
At first, things looked promising. I spoke with a seasoned accountant who seemed to know exactly what I needed as a new business owner. He gave me the impression that everything could be handled smoothly.
But once my account was handed off to the broader team, things started to unravel.
The Pain of Fragmented Support

Emails went to a generic domain, picked up by whoever was available. I never knew who I was talking to, and it felt like no one truly understood my case. I kept wanting to speak to the original accountant, but instead, I had to repeat myself over and over. Not to mention, we were also communicating over Whatsapp since the email chains got too complicated, which defeats the purpose of having a platform in the first place. Over two years, my account was passed between 6–8 different individuals. That lack of continuity was exhausting.

The final straw? Sleek missed an MPF submission deadline and only informed me a month later. I had lined them up with my MPF agent and set up autopay through my Hang Seng business account. Not only did they fail to inform me, but they also asked me to pay the penalty—until I escalated the issue and they finally agreed to cover the cost.
Enter Osome

After that experience, I had no choice but to look elsewhere. Osome came up in another round of research. Though they didn’t offer payroll services, they were willing to accommodate the transfer of my information from Sleek.
Their onboarding was smooth. I spoke with a business development rep—not an accountant—but he was empathetic and understood my pain points. The communication was prompt, the timeline was clear, and just hearing “we can take it from here” was incredibly reassuring.

Their platform has improved over time, especially the chat function. I can see who I’m talking to, and when my account is handed off, I get a formal introduction. It’s still just text, but it feels more personal.

What Worked and What Didn’t

Both Sleek and Osome offer fully online platforms, which made onboarding and communication easy. But the difference lies in the experience.
With Sleek, the generic email system and constant handoffs made me feel like just another ticket. With Osome, I had a dedicated agent for nearly two years—until she got promoted. That consistency made a huge difference.
Sure, Osome has its quirks. There are occasional incorrect notifications, but they’re quick to resolve them. Nothing major has gone wrong, and I trust them with my accounts.
Who Should Use What?
I value:
Speed: I don’t have time to chase platforms for basic functions.
Simplicity: Set it up. Let it work.
Support: A real human who solves problems, not just escalates them.
Trust: If you fail me once, my business pays the price.
Feature | Sleek | Osome |
Onboarding Speed | Smooth initial setup, but slow follow-through | Clear timeline, reassuring handoff, fast execution |
Customer Support | Fragmented, impersonal, frequent handoffs | Personal, consistent, responsive |
Payroll & MPF | Offered, but missed deadlines and lacked accountability | Not offered, but transparent about limitations |
Platform UX | Functional but generic email threads | Chat-based, more personal with visible handoffs |
Account Continuity | 6–8 team members over 2 years; no ownership | Dedicated agent for 2 years; smoother transitions |
Trust & Reliability | Low—reactive and inconsistent | High—proactive and dependable |
Value to Entrepreneurs | Affordable but risky without accounting knowledge | Higher cost, but safer for non-finance founders |
If you’re an accountant yourself, Sleek might work fine. It’s more affordable, and you’ll likely catch issues early. But if you’re like me—someone who needs a professional team to handle everything—Osome is the better choice. Just note: they don’t handle payroll or MPF submissions.
